Three English Sheilds

St Edmund's Day

The last decade has witnessed the growth of English nationalism. As Wales and Scotland depart for independence, the Union in turn becomes less appealing to the English. We are finally ascending to take pride in our Green and Pleasant Land.

Most people will be aware that England does not in fact have an official national day, although many of you will also know that St George's Day has increasing support within the English community. Where then does this leave St Edmund, and what is this site all about?

St Edmund was in fact England's Patron Saint before St George. After the Norman invasion of 1066, Anglo-Saxon identity was partially eroded for fear of rebellion. In turn, St Edmund was replaced by the Norman preference of St George whom as we all know was not English at all.

St Edmund was an Anglo-Saxon King whose story is nothing short of magical.

This site aims to provide all the information you need regarding our true Patron Saint and we hope that you join in on our efforts to reinstate him, so that we can celebrate our Anglo-Saxon roots once again.
